STOFFEL VANDOORNE HIGHLIGHTS DS AUTOMOBILES AT THE BRUSSELS MOTOR SHOW!
Reigning Formula E champion Stoffel Vandoorne was the special guest of DS Automobiles at the 100th Brussels Motor Show last week.
Last Friday, January 20th, the Brussels Motor Show was at fever pitch. To mark Stoffel Vandoorne’s signing with DS Automobiles in the ABB FIA Formula E championship, the reigning champion made a dramatic entrance right into the heart of the Parc des Expositions in the Belgian capital. Now a DS PENSKE driver, Stoffel Vandoorne arrived on the stand of the Stellantis group’s premium manufacturer at the wheel of a DS E-TENSE FE21 that was decorated in Belgium’s national colours. It was another highlight in the career of a single-seater that has proved victorious since its very first race in Rome in 2021, and which brought down the curtain on the GEN2 era for DS: the manufacturer that holds the record for the most podiums in Formula E and was a double title winner (both teams and drivers) in 2019 as well as 2020.
To celebrate their new partnership in Formula E from season 9 onwards, which got underway in Mexico on 14 January, DS Automobiles gave the Belgian DS PENSKE driver the keys to a New DS 7 E-TENSE 4×4 360 in OPERA Sapphire Blue, complete with a Stoffel Vandoorne logo.
Fine-tuned by DS Performance, the New DS 7 E-TENSE4x4 360 benefits directly from the expertise of the French manufacturer and the titles won in Formula E. This sporting DS7 uses a rechargeable hybrid powerplant that puts out 360 horsepower, coupled to intelligent four-wheel drive transmission, a wider track at the front and rear, ride height lowered by 15cm and wide diameter brakes within the imposing 21-inch wheels. All that equipment gives it admirable roadholding and the sort of performance that puts it right into GT territory. The New DS 7 E-TENSE 4×4 360 enjoys a 0-100kmph acceleration time of just 5.6 seconds.
Both on the world’s Formula E circuits as well as on everyday roads, the reigning champion can now benefit from the latest advanced E-TENSE technology created by DS Automobiles.
The next races in Season 9 of the ABB FIA Formula E world championship will take place in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia, on 27th and 28th January upcoming. Reinforced by an exceptional duo of drivers in the shape of reigning champion Stoffel Vandoorne, and Jean-Éric Vergne – the only two-time world champion in the history of the series – the championship’s most decorated marque has a clear ambition to win even more titles.
Eugenio Franzetti, DS Performance director:
“We wanted to create a special event to celebrate the new partnership between DS Performance and Stoffel Vandoorne. And the Brussels Motor Show seemed the ideal place to do it, as it’s one of the most important shows in the world. So our Belgian driver – the reigning Formula E world champion – made a dramatic entrance onto our stand at the wheel of a DS E-TENSE FE21 decorated in Belgium’s national colours! It’s a powerful symbol for the team, as this was the car that closed the GEN2 era for DS Automobiles with a record number of victories and podiums. We also took advantage of the event to give Stoffel the keys to a New DS7 E-TENSE 4×4 360 that was specially made for him. A unique car for a unique driver!”
Stoffel Vandoorne, reigning Formula E world champion:
“I was very pleased to be at the Brussels Motor Show, and above all to get there with the DS E-TENSE FE21 in Belgium’s colours! There were loads of people there, and it’s nice to see so much interest in Formula E. I also got the keys to my new car: a New DS7 E-TENSE 4×4 360 in Sapphire Blue. It’s a very elegant sporting model, and I can’t wait to take it out onto the road!”
