DS N°8 Presidential

DS N°8 PRESIDENTIAL is a unique expression of French craftsmanship. It was made available to the Presidency of the French Republic ahead of the commercial launch of DS N°8, the new flagship of DS Automobiles, in September 2025.

The French head of state, Mr. Emmanuel Macron, participated in the commemorations of the Armistice of May 8, 1945, aboard the DS N°8 PRESIDENTIAL. He thus becomes the first President of the Republic in the world to drive an official 100% electric vehicle.

DS N°8 PRESIDENTIAL, the new 100% electric flagship from DS Automobiles equipped with an ACC battery boasting a record range of 750 km, was presented to the President of the French Republic by the Brand, the craftspeople, and the partners who participated in its development.

DS and the Presidency of the French Republic represent a historic collaboration. Since the proclamation of the Fifth Republic, the DS and SM, and more recently the DS 5 and DS 7, have been used by seven Presidents.

During his inauguration in 2017, Mr. Emmanuel Macron descended the Champs-Élysées on board a DS 7 CROSSBACK PRESIDENTIAL, a unique model designed to allow him to greet the French people.

As a true tool for work, the DS 7 ÉLYSÉE has been developed in a long version with a 300 horsepower E-TENSE plug-in hybrid engine and an intelligent all-wheel drive transmission to be integrated into the car fleet of the Palais de l’Élysée, starting from November 2021.

On the occasion of the commemorations of May 8, 1945, DS Automobiles created a new vehicle for the Presidency of the French Republic, in a unique configuration adapted for parading closely with the French people: DS N°8 PRESIDENTIAL.

DS N°8 PRESIDENTIAL modified in several aspects by the engineers and creative teams of DS Automobiles

Firstly, it boasts a Sapphire Blue shade (like the DS 7 ÉLYSÉE), unique to the DS N°8 and perfect for a vehicle in the presidential car fleet. This is complemented by black-painted rear panels. Its illuminated DS LUMINASCREEEN grille features the Blue-White-Red colours of the French Republic. Other exterior detail points include specific Blue-White-Red badges that mark both the front and rear of the vehicle, as well as the installation of flag-holders at the ends of the front bumper.

Unique creation focused on craftsmanship and technology to embody the Art of travel

DS N°8 PRESIDENTIAL was created with the collaboration of several French artisans and partners. Ahead of the commemorations of the Armistice of May 8, 1945, DS N°8 PRESIDENTIAL was the subject of an exclusive presentation at the Palais de l'Élysée. Mr. Xavier Peugeot, General Director of DS Automobiles, his teams, as well as the craftspeople representing French know-how in the service of excellence who worked on the creation of this exceptional vehicle, were able to showcase their work to the President of the French Republic.

Master saddle makers – DS Automobiles

Very attentive to the care of detail and the comfort of their models, the master saddle makers of DS Automobiles, whose workshop is located in the Paris region next to the DS DESIGN STUDIO, have once again put their know-how and expertise to the service of an exceptional creation.

They design and produce the front and rear seats for all DS creations, as well as the door panels or any area that requires soft materials needing their intervention.

In DS N°8 PRESIDENTIAL, the seats are covered in Alcantara® and Nappa leather reminiscent of a watch strap - one of the signatures of DS Automobiles - in a shade of Bleu Songe specially selected for this unique example. All areas where satin textile and pleats on the doors are located have been dressed and covered by the craftsmen. A pearl-stitching, another unique signature of DS Automobiles visible in the standard DS models, has also been added in the areas of the door panels and the dashboard.

Straw Marquetry – LISON DE CAUNES WORKSHOPS

Members of the Grands Ateliers de France and the Living Heritage Companies, Lison de Caunes perpetuates the know-how inherited from her grandfather, the decorator André Groult. In her workshop, located in the 6th arrondissement of Paris, she has crafted the straw marquetry applied to the dashboard as well as on the decorations of the front doors of the DS N°8 PRESIDENTIAL. This rye straw, seemingly an unremarkable material, is enhanced by dyeing and handwork. The 12 marquetry artisans at Lison de Caunes' workshops have put their talent to the service of DS Automobiles to deliver a straw marquetry decoration in a water green and navy blue tone with a design named fan, resulting in a stunning finish.

Satin - MÉTAPHORES

MÉTAPHORES is a weaving and fabric publishing company located in Paris, in Bussières (42) and Challes (72). It is part of the textile branch of the Hermès house. It brings together the century-old savoir-faire of Verel de Belval (Lyon silk) for upholstery silks and Crin for manual weaving. The panels of Blue Dream satin selected to dress the interior of DS N°8 PRESIDENTIAL are made from Verel de Belval fabrics.

Pleated Fabric – Atelier Lognon

Founded in 1853 by Emilie Lognon, the Lognon Workshop is a resident of 19M, the place for Arts and Crafts in fashion and decoration, in Paris. It engages in the artisanal activity of textile pleating using cardboard molds. The Workshop is made up of about ten people who work for exclusive clients such as renowned fashion houses or here for DS Automobiles. Concerning the DS N°8 PRESIDENTIAL, it is its counter-doors that display this unique pleating.

Centigon - manufacturer of armoUred vehicles and custom solutions in the field of security

Located in Lamballe (22), it is the privileged and official partner of the French administration, security forces, and other governmental as well as private services. Centigon has applied its expertise to DS N°8 PRESIDENTIAL, in order to make it compatible with the use of the Presidency of the Republic.

ACC - Automotive Cells Company, French supplier of DS N°8 PRESIDENTIAL batteries

This is a company based in Billy Berclau Douvrin (62), where the first Gigafactory was built, of which Stellantis is one of the creators and shareholders. The batteries powering DS N°8, the new flagship of DS Automobiles capable of offering a range of up to 750 km, also come from this production site. DS N°8 can travel over 500 km on the highway without recharging and can recover 200 km of autonomy in just 10 minutes of charging or go from 20% to 80% charge in just 27 minutes.

FOCAL - specialised in the design and production of high-quality audio systems

Founded in 1979 in Saint-Etienne (42), the company, a member of the Colbert committee since 2024, is recognised around the world for its expertise in acoustics, its exclusive technologies, and its innovations. A long-time partner of DS Automobiles, FOCAL logically equips the DS N°8 PRESIDENTIAL with a custom-designed installation.

DS N°8 PRESIDENTIAL will be showcased to the public during the next edition of the RÉVÉLATIONS fair, a biennial event for crafts, of which DS Automobiles is a historic partner, taking place from May 21 to 25, 2025 at the Grand Palais.
