Numerous things can shape the range of your electric vehicle, among them weather conditions as well as your driving style. Find the factors that influence the effectiveness of an electric car’s battery.
Speed
Speed is the most impacting factor on the range of your electric vehicle. At a steady speed of 130 km/h, the driving range of a 100% electric vehicle is cut in half compared to the WLTP approved driving range.
Driving behaviour and geography
Driving behaviour and geography has a major influence on the range of your electric vehicle. Eco-driving is enhanced with electric mode on vehicles. Smooth accelerations and use of recuperative braking can save up to 20% of your autonomy.
Thermal comfort and heating
Extreme heat or freezing cold affect the chemical reactions of the batteries. It’s preferable to pre-warm or pre-cool the cockpit using your MyDS app while your DS 3 E-TENSE is still being charged.

Remote pre-warming
When comfort goes hand in hand with range
Pre-warming your DS 3 enables you to maximise the range of its battery. This function can be programmed via the in-car touchscreen or remotely through your MyDS app. It means you’ll get into an electric car that’s at the perfect temperature (21° C) with a battery that’s also pre-warmed and therefore operating at its most efficient.

Select the mode that suits you best
With DS 3 three drive modes are available drawing more or less energy from the battery:
Eco mode lets you conserve the range of your electric vehicle. Some functions such as cockpit temperature and recirculating air are slightly altered to reduce energy use.
Sport mode boosts driver enjoyment. When engaged it lets your DS 3 deliver maximum power and torque for a thrilling experience.
Normal mode controls the car’s various parameters to ensure maximum comfort on every journey.
Regenerative braking
Your vehicle charges itself while driving
Thanks to our participation in Formula E, we’ve developed several innovations such as regenerative braking. Like an engine brake, you can turn kinetic energy into electricity as you decelerate, thereby charging your electric car’s battery. Through energy recovery during braking you can increase the range of your DS 3 by up to 20% around town. This function can be engaged with a simple push on the gear lever.
Recharge
It's always the right time for charging
There are different ways to charge your electric car’s battery. Depending on the means of charging you choose, charging time can be increased or decreased.
You can decide to charge in your usual parking places: overnight at home or during the day at work for example. On longer trips, stop for a short break at a rapid charging point. You’ll recover 80% of your range in 30 minutes.

Control your vehicle with your fingertips
Control your electric vehicle from your smartphone with the MyDS app.
Range information
With the MyDS smartphone app, you can see the vehicle’s current state of charge and approximate remaining range. When your vehicle is plugged in, the speed and expected remaining charging time are also shown.
Remote charging
With control of remote charging you can use the MyDS app to commence charging or initiate a programmed charge. A programmed charge enables you to use the most beneficial energy rates to replenish your battery.
Remote air-conditioning
Configuring the cockpit’s thermal pre-set function lets programme the heating or air conditioning of your vehicle. Designed for your comfort, this function also conserves the range of your batteries if the vehicle is charging.
Plan your trip and enjoy your journey
Prepare your journey from on your smartphone through MyDS app with EV Trip Planner* included in the Connected Navigation Pack and follow your navigation step by step, even during battery charging stops. Choose your next destination and send it to your DS infotainment system using the Send2Nav function from MyDS app.
Also benefit throughout your journey, from a real-time update of traffic conditions, energy consumption, the level of the vehicle’s battery and various charging points available nearby.

Today, because of pollution, many towns are subject to traffic restrictions. DS 3 E-TENSE has a bright blue LED located at the top of the windscreen to indicate that this is an electric vehicle. Some restricted roads and locations will give you access.
